Documented information concerning UFO's from 2000 to 2016

Aussie Enquirer made this Freedom of Information request to Inspector General of Intelligence and Security

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Aussie Enquirer

Dear Defence Intelligence Organisation,

I am requesting documented information concerning UFO's (Unidentified Flying Objects) from the period 2000 to 2016. This might include reports (within governmental bodies), reviews and correspondence regarding the matter.

A Mr.Harrison made a request for information in 2014 that was too broad in scope:
https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/u...

In response to that, it was suggested to look at the National Archives of Australia website (NAA), however this website doesnt list anything beyond the nineties.

With a growing number of people allegedly reporting on UFO activity in the skies of Australia and around the world (on sites like YouTube), it is important for the public to have access to such information to make a proper evaluation of such alleged sightings.

Relevant documented information from any “Australian Intelligence Community” agencies is sought. Video footage is also sought if available.

Yours faithfully,

Aussie Enquirer

Dear Aussie Enquirer

I refer to your request for documented information under the Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).

The Office of the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security (OIGIS)
is an exempt agency under the FOI Act and is not compelled to meet your
request for records. Records are subject to release under the Archives Act
1983 once they enter the ‘open’ period. Until recently the open period
related to Commonwealth records over 30 years old. Amendments to the
Archives Act in 2010 resulted in a change in the ‘closed’ period from 30
years to 20 years. This change will be fully implemented by 2020. Records
that have entered the open period are eligible for public release, after
the Inspector-General determines whether any information should be exempt
on national security grounds. Records can be obtained under the Archives
Act by contacting the National Archives of Australia (NAA).
