Documents or emails referring to asylum seeker transferred to Brisbane after alleged rape

Daniel O'Connor made this Freedom of Information request to Department of Home Affairs

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was refused by Department of Home Affairs.

Dear Department of Immigration and Border Protection,

I've read in http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2015/s4... that the department considers a patient too unwell to see a trauma specialist (Helen Driscoll) or lawyer (Dimi Ioannou).

I request:
- Emails from 1st May 2015 to 4th September 2015 that match the keywords 'Helen Driscoll', "Dimi Ioannou" and the surrounding context (replies, preceding emails).
- Emails or other correspondence providing medical opinion or guidance about the fitness for visitation in the same timeframe regarding the 23 year old asylum seeker.

I do not need personally identifying information about the asylum seeker or their specific medical records; only internal correspondence either asking about this by persons within the department or the minister; the underlying reasoning/context for asking; as well as the advice provided, and the qualifications of the advice provider where relevant.

Yours faithfully,
Daniel O'Connor

Annoyingly, I should have responded to this in more detail. It was clear that "match the keywords" in the original request immediately makes the refusal illegitimate - staff being request to read emails that match keywords and those in the reply/forward chain is not unreasonable.
