Dear ACT Education And Training Directorate,

I respectfully request all documentation from 12 November to 20 November 2025 regarding contaminated sand in ACT schools. This should include but not be limited to all communications between the Department and the Minister for Education and/or her office and staff. Any communication between departmental staff or documentation regarding the status of any school undertaking remedial work, how that work was undertaken or what order schools should were determined.

We need to have a clear understanding of the scope of your request before
we can commence the processing. Would you please confirm if it is for:

 

Records from 12 November to 20 November 2025 about contaminated sand in
ACT public schools, specifically

 

 1. Communications between the Directorate and the Minister for Education
and Youth Affairs and/or the Minister’s Office and staff
 2. Identification of schools required to undertake remedial work, how the
work was undertaken and prioritisation of schools for remedial work

 

For your information, records for point 2 are likely to require
consultation with third parties which will extend the processing time. We
may also run into some challenges with being able to meet these
obligations as businesses are likely to close for at least some time over
the Christmas/New Year period.
