Dear Sydney Water Corporation,

Can you please share the medical benefit of adding Floride to the drinking water? Are these benefits validated by your own study?

Yours faithfully,

Naveen

WaterQuality, Sydney Water Corporation

Dear Naveen,

Thank you for your enquiry and your interest in water fluoridation.

Sydney Water adds fluoride to drinking water in line with state
legislation, under the guidance of NSW Health our public health regulator.

The [1]New South Wales Code of Practice for the Fluoridation of Water
Supplies (the Code of Practice) provides strict guidance on the
application of fluoride to drinking water. The Code of Practice states
that water utilities must maintain fluoride concentrations in the drinking
water between 0.9 and 1.5 milligrams per litre, with a target of 1
milligram per litre.

We also have a program that monitors drinking water quality, including
fluoride, at customer taps throughout the entire area that Sydney Water
supplies. These samples are tested at our National Association of Testing
Authorities (NATA) accredited water quality laboratory. We report all of
the fluoride results to NSW Health on a monthly basis.

NSW Health has responsibility for administration of fluoridation across
NSW.

More information can be found in:

o the [2]Australian Drinking Water Guidelines
o the [3]New South Wales Code of Practice for the Fluoridation of Water
Supplies and in
o NSW Health’s online resources on [4]fluoride in drinking water.

Yours sincerely
