I wish to make a comment and a suggestion. The request you have made will be refused. The Department will tell you that there is a "practical refusal reason" to refuse. It means only there are too many documents in your request. For example, do you really want all correspondence between the Australian Treasurer and the Premier of Western Australia since Federation, or do you want only documents about GST. Maybe you only want correspondence since the recent Australian election about GST. Whatever it is, if you can be very specified in your request and with not so many possible documents then you have a better chance. The department will also be able to locate quickly the specific documents and make a sensible decision. It cannot mean that you will always get what you want but it will be better not to have a "practical refusal" reply.
May I suggest you send another email immediately with more information.
