The request was successful.

Dear VicRoads,

Q1:I request how many license tests are conducted annually in Victoria on average over 2016,2017,2018.?

Q2:How many people with overseas licenses does Vicroads expect to be affected by the new license rules brought in on 29/10/2019,and how has this number been determined?

Q3: What systems has Vicroads put in place to be able to handle the increase in demand for driving tests while also serving the existing demand within the community as at question 1. Considering the 6 month deadline of 30th of April 2020?

Regards,
Victor Bell.

Dear Mr Bell,

Please be advised that the Freedom of Information Act 1982 requires all applicants to pay an application fee of $29.60 (cheque or money order), however this may be waived or reduced if the payment would cause financial hardship to the applicant. Evidence in support of a claim of hardship would include a copy of a Pension Card or Health Care Card. This can be mailed or emailed through to my office.

Your request will be processed upon receipt of application fee.

1. Historical average of license tests conducted annually are as follows.

2016 154,766
2017 152,833
2018 156,502
Average 154,700

(2). Vicroads expects that between 20,000 and 40,000 overseas license holders could be affected by the new overseas license rules and will seek to convert their license.
This number has been estimated based on the number of temporary visas issued to visitors from affected countries who are in Australia and would qualify for these new rules, and who have not already converted their overseas license

(3). To complete the drive testing for affected overseas license holders in addition to our existing local community demand, Vicroads is planning to increase drive test volume (appointment capacity). This will be done by allocating additional resources and facilities for use in conducting these appointments, and by extending opening hours of selected Customer service centers (including on Saturdays).
