Implementation of new AVL system for professional visits

Dear NSW Department of Justice,

Could the Department provide a copy of:

Any and all written correspondence, emails, file notes, memos, submissions, policy papers, implementation road maps, reports, plans and any other document pertaining to:

1. The implementation of a new "AVL" (audio visual link) system for legal practitioners and other professionals to conduct visits with prisoners at various correctional centres managed and operated by Corrective Services NSW and the GEO Group. This new system is otherwise known as "Just Connect" and is to replace the previous "Jabber" AVL system.

2. The decision of the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre at Silverwater NSW to confine legal and professional visits to between 8:30am to 11:30am and 12:30pm to 3:00pm from 8 January 2018.

3. The provision of laptop computers or other computer facilities in certain circumstances to prisoners on remand.

This request is made formally under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.

The time period for the request is confined to between 1 January 2016 to 27 January 2018 (inclusive). Information tending to disclose personal contact details of relevant officers (other than nominated business contact details) is not included in my request and is not sought.

Receipt is acknowledged of your formal access application under the
Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (‘GIPA’ Act).

 

Your application is currently invalid as payment of the application fee
was not received. The GIPA Act (Section 41) requires that for a formal
access application to be valid, payment of the $30 application fee must be
made. Further, an Australian postal address must also be provided.
