Dear Juvenile Justice NSW,

I am an intern at ABC Central Coast, and am also an assistant journalist at Central Coast Newspapers.

I am currently undertaking a story about the high number of Indigenous Youths at the Frank Baxter Detention Centre.

I was hoping that you would be able to provide me with a spreadsheet/statistics of:

1. Number of Indigenous youths in prison over the last 15 years from 2003-2017
2. Would you be able to give the national percentage of the % of youths in prison that were Aboriginal?
3. Would you also be able to provide a statistic of the % of Aboriginal youths in prison in each state?
4. Would you also be able to give the % of Aboriginal youths at the Frank Baxter Centre?

Just to clarify, I am trying to determine how and why the Indigenous youth population in prisons is increasing, and am trying to find out the exact statistics of Aboriginal youths in prison over the last 15 years.

If you could give me the statistics for each year in this period, that would be great.

Yours faithfully,

Satria Dyer-Darmawan
