DPS Information Requests (DPS), Department of Parliamentary Services

OFFICIAL

Dear Mr Stewart

We refer to your email dated 5 September 2023, in which you made a request
to the Department of Parliamentary Services (Department) for access to
documents in the following terms:

Please provide any documents relating to details of hepafilters, safe air
initiatives, etc at Parliament House and what locations, offices etc those
initiatives may extend to.

Please also include any documents or information relating to evidence
provided that initiated these undertakings if they exist, and requests
made to your office to carry this out.
As noted under DPS Information Requests Policy (Policy), all parliamentary
departments are excluded from the application of the FOI Act. However, DPS
recognises the importance of transparency and public accountability, and
supports the principle that administrative documents should be open to
scrutiny. DPS will consequently provide access to documents subject to any
claim of appropriate immunity or exemptions that would apply under the FOI
Act or the Policy.
The authorised decision maker has considered your request and is satisfied
that the request falls under Groups 2 and 3 of the exempt documents under
clause 16 (b) (iv) and 16(c) (ii) of the Policy. Therefore, the authorised
decision maker has decided not to grant the release of the documents.
Kind regards

DPS Information Requests

Dear Department of Parliamentary Services,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department of Parliamentary Services's handling of my FOI request 'Information about safe air at Parliament House'.

This issue is crucial to myself and other disabled stakeholders who regularly attend or work at APH. I want an answer to this question urgently to ensure that disabled people are safe. I am currently in a disability leadership position and represent a large number of disabled people in Australia. In addition, this is an issue of public interest and concern.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/i...

Yours faithfully,

Rob Stewart

DPS Information Requests (DPS), Department of Parliamentary Services

OFFICIAL

Dear Mr Stewart

We refer to your email dated 15 November 2023, in which you made a request
for internal review of
a decision of the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) to deny your
request for information
in the following terms:

Please provide any documents relating to details of hepafilters, safe air
initiatives, etc at
Parliament House and what locations, offices etc those initiatives may
extend to.

Please also include any documents or information relating to evidence
provided that initiated
these undertakings if they exist, and requests made to your office to
carry this out.

As noted under DPS Information Requests Policy (Policy), all parliamentary
departments are
excluded from the application of the FOI Act. However, DPS recognises the
importance of
transparency and public accountability, and supports the principle that
administrative documents
should be open to scrutiny.

DPS will consequently provide access to documents subject to any claim of
appropriate immunity or
exemptions that would apply under the FOI Act or the Policy.

The authorised decision maker has considered your request and is satisfied
that the request falls
under Groups 1 and 3 of the exempt documents under clauses 16 (a)(vi) and
16 (c) (iv) of the Policy.

The authorised decision maker has confirmed the previous decision and does
not approve the
release of the documents.

Kind regards
