Victorian Law Reform Commission did not have the information requested.

Dear Victorian Law Reform Commission,

I note the current legislation appears to be very pro discipline with respect to Legal Practitioners.

However, it severely lacks any protection or potential remedies that can be used by legal practitioners. Can you please advise what legal remedies are currently available for lawyers to access if they are being subjected to bullying, law society corruption, discrimination, character assaination and defamation.

How does this legislation provide any help, assistance or protection for the practitioner. I think it's fair to say that the majority bof Australians know that lawyers have been well documented in relation to all types of misconduct. Further, the majority of those Australians know they have access to help and redress should they have a complaint or suffer some aort of detriment because of a legal practitioners behaviour.

However, it is very concerning that there appears to be no procedures or systems in place or legislation that aims to protect, help, or assist the practitioner. There is no protection offered by this act or anywhere one can go to complain, get help, guidence, or support.

What information does the commission have in relation to Law Society Corruption and misuse of office. What what was done to rectify the situation? How are disciplinary proceedings brought against society corruption. Who has authority to deal with corruption in the law society and how is that investigated?

Yours faithfully,

Concerned
