Letter issued to job seekers re asbestos for activity ID 1507-7131 (contract ID 0206026A)

David Curtin made this Freedom of Information request to Department of Education, Skills and Employment

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Department of Employment,

As the Host Organisation for the work experience activity (activity ID: 1507-7131 under contract ID 0206026A), I request a copy of the letter issued by the Department of Employment to job seekers assigned to the project, regarding the asbestos complaint lodged by a job seeker. (name can be provided)

An informal request for a copy of the letter was lodged through our Salvation Army contact and has since been declined.

Salvation Army and the Department of Employment have both been issued with an independent report from Safe Surveying Services (SSS) who completed a site specific Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’S) management survey throughout the Keep Queensland Beautiful premises located at 30 Thomas Street, West End.

The independent report indicated that work carried out in the garden (external to the building) was of a low risk and could remain in-situ, with no immediate health risks.

As the CEO of Keep Queensland Beautiful, I require a copy of any and all correspondence in relation to this matter to file for historical purposes, as to fulfill obligations relating to our duty of care.

I can be contacted by email or on my mobile - contact information provided.

Yours faithfully,
David Curtin

Employment - FOI,

For Official Use Only

Dear Mr Curtin,

I refer to your below email to the Department of Employment (the
department) seeking access under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the
FOI Act) to a copy of the letter issued by the department to job seekers
assigned to the project, regarding the asbestos complaint lodged by a job
seeker.

We understand that you have discussed this matter with Ms Rina Bruinsma of
the Work Experience and Programs Branch and an arrangement has been made
to provide a copy of the letter to you directly rather than through the
FOI process.

Accordingly, I am writing to seek your confirmation that you are happy to
withdraw your request for access under the FOI Act.

Should you have any questions in relation to this matter, please do not
hesitate to contact me on (02) 6240 2425 or via email at
[1][email address].

Thank you and kind regards,
