Meth Surveillance 2015 - 2024
Dear Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission,
Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, I request access to any operational outlines, internal communications, or briefing documents from 2015 to 2024 that relate to joint task force operations involving the Australian Federal Police, QLD Police, and/or the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission that targeted methamphetamine use, distribution, or associated community surveillance.
This request includes references to community-based behavioural surveillance, intelligence-led targeting, and digital surveillance of persons not formally charged.
I do not request personal information. Please provide materials in electronic format.
Yours faithfully,
M.M
OFFICIAL
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth)
(FOI Act). In order to make a valid request under the FOI Act it must meet
the requirements in s 15(2)(b), including that it includes sufficient
information regarding the documents you are seeking to enable an officer
of our agency to identify them. I am of the view that your request does
not meet this requirement and so I am seeking clarification regarding your
request.
Firstly, could you please clarify what you mean by operational outlines –
does this refer to operational strategies or status reports, for example?
Do you mean all internal communications including day to day emails or
more formal communications?
I have also interpreted references to ‘community-based behavioural
surveillance, intelligence-led targeting, and digital surveillance of
persons not formally charged’ as references which may appear in the above
requested documents and not a secondary point to this request – please let
me know if this is not the case as I will require further information
about what these concepts mean to you.
Pleas respond by no later than 27 June 2025 or I will assume you no longer
wish to proceed.
Kind regards,
FOI Advisor
