Misrepresentation and breach of contract in sale of motor vehicle.
Dear Tasmanian Office of Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading,
I have recently purchased a car which still has a security interest on it from a finance company. The owner claimed the finance was paid out at time of purchase though it has proved untrue as the security interests remains in place. Is there an avenue to claim compensation through misrepresentation and breach of contract from the seller?
The value of the vehicle is around $32,000.
Yours faithfully,
Richard.
