Dear Mr Cole

I’m writing in relation to your FOI request with the Department of the
Prime Minister and Cabinet – reference FOI/2019/343.

The due date for a decision on the FOI request is 6 January 2020.
Regrettably, the Department will not be in a position to finalise your
request by the current due date as the third consultation we previously
notified you about is not finalised and due to the impact of the
Department’s Christmas/New Shut down period (close of business 24 December
2019 to 1 January 2020, inclusively). Accordingly, we are seeking your
consent to a 14-day extension of time (to 20 January 2020) to the
processing period, in accordance with section 15AA of the FOI Act. We
will endeavour to notify you of the decision prior to this extended date
but have requested this amount of time to finalise the Department’s
decision.

We kindly request you confirm your consent to the extension by way of
return email. If you are not inclined to agree to an extension of time, we
ask that you let us know as soon as possible so the decision-maker may
consider seeking an extension of time from the Office of the Australian
Information Commissioner, in accordance with section 15AB of the FOI Act.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely

Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's handling of my FOI request 'Official visits'.

I would like a review of this decision for the following reasons

1. regarding the refusal to list the prime minister's delegation because it would damage international relations. the information is already in the public domain and published in newspapers across the world. the White house released the state dinner guest list that named most of the prime minister's delegation links here

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/09/20/polit...

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/fb-7488...

Ms. Michelle Chan, national security adviser and senior adviser (international), Office of the Prime Minister of Australia
Mr. Andrew Carswell, press secretary, Office of the Prime Minister of Australia
Mr. Nicholas Creevey, senior media adviser, Office of the Prime Minister of Australia
Mr. Yaron Finkelstein, principal private secretary, Office of the Prime Minister of Australia
Mr. Philip Gaetjens, secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
Ms. Sonia Gentile, director of program, Office of the Prime Minister of Australia
Mr. Jack Hampton, assistant adviser, Office of the Prime Minister of Australia
Mr. Justin Hayhurst, first assistant secretary, International Division, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Australia
Mr. Nikolai Louw, executive officer, Office of the Prime Minister of Australia
Mr. Paul Ritchie, senior communications adviser, Office of the Prime Minister of Australia

and can be found my simple search. why has this been refused when it is mostly already in the public domain ? with even lower level officers named ? this information could also be found when the defence schedule of special purpose flights is released which names all passengers on vip flights.

regarding question 2 of my foi request about the hotel name and rooms reserved I refer to my foi request FOI/2018/189. where I asked the same question regarding the prime minister's visit to Singapore and I got this response

1. Office of the Prime Minister

Chief of Staff

National Security Adviser & Senior Adviser (International)

Executive Officer

Senior Media Adviser x 2

Head of Programme

Official Photographer

Advancer

Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

Secretary

First Assistant Secretary International Division

First Assistant Secretary Protocol and International Visits Division

Visit Coordinator x 2

Communications Officer

Information Technology Support

2. Conrad Centennial Hotel, on the recommendation of the Australian High Commission
Singapore. 21 rooms were reserved including offices

naming the prime minister's hotel the conrad and 21 rooms being reserved. so on what basis do you refuse question 1 and 2 when you have had no issue to release this information on the previous request. I look forward to your reply

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/o...

Dear FOI,
Thankyou the information that you have provided is exactly what I asked for but which was refused quoting national security and international relations. Is it because a senator asked the question in public estimates that it is allowed to be published ? But when a member of the public asks for transparency it is refused. I believe that is a double standard as my request was refused on so many points but then it is ok to publish said information on the parliamentary website.

Yours sincerely,

alan cole

Dear FOI,
do you not plan to answer my email of march 2nd as it has been 15 days now ?
