NSW Ministry of Health did not have the information requested.

Dear NSW Ministry of Health,

I am a journalist at the Central Western Daily newspaper in Orange.

I have recently been made aware of some respiratory tests which occurred at the Newcrest owned Cadia Mine on the outskirts of Orange.

I understand a worker tested positive to respiratory disease after undergoing testing conducted by the NSW Government.

Are you able to provide more details on the tests and the results?

Yours faithfully,

Alex

Dear NSW Ministry of Health,

I am writing to request respiratory results from health tests the state government conducted with Newcrest owned Cadia Mines.

I requested this information weeks ago and have been ignored. By law, the authority should normally have responded promptly.

Please have someone reach out today.

Yours faithfully,

Alex Crowe

Dear Alex

Apologies for the delay in our response.

We have looked into your query and it has been confirmed that NSW Health wouldn’t be involved in any testing of mines, and we are not aware of any such tests at Cadia Mines.

Tests may have been commissioned by another Government agency, as it was not NSW Health.

Regards
GIPA Specialist, NSW Ministry of Health
