Social Housing Builds 2024

We're waiting for Tim Gregson to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Minister for Social Services,

I am just after any documents related to social housing builds projected for 2024.

Given there was about an average of 1:5 dwellings overall built for an increase of population due to migration. Im keen to know how social housing compares to waitlists?

Yours faithfully,

Tim.

FOI, Minister for Social Services

Good afternoon Tim

Thank you for your email to the Freedom of Information Team at the
Department of Social Services (the Department). It does not appear that
you are making a valid request for an identified document under the
Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) but are instead seeking a
response to a question..

If you are seeking information pertaining to social housing and waitlists
your best option is to request it from the State and Territory governments
who have primary responsibility for delivering housing and homelessness
services. You may also consider making a request to the Hon Julie Collins
MP, Minister for Housing, or the Department of the Treasury.

Please note, data on the performance of governments in providing social
housing is contained in Part 5, Section 18 of the Report on Government
Services 2024 that was released on 22 January 2024 and this may be of some
interest to you. The Report on Government Services 2024 can be found on
the Productivity Commission’s [1]website.

Kind regards

Sarah
