I seek access to the following documents under the Freedom
of Information Act 1982:

1. Current social media policy of the department, which covers
departmental use and/or private use by employees in an individual
capacity.

2. Any current guidance material which is available for employees to make informed decisions about their private social media use.

3. Any current policies, manuals, guidance material, etc, which APSC rely upon to provide advice to APS agencies in the development and/or implementation of social media policies within individual agencies.

Your Freedom of Information Request: No. C16/846
 
I refer to your email of 18 April 2016 (below) seeking access to the
following documents under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI
Act):
 
1. Current social media policy of the department, which covers
departmental use and/or private use by employees in an individual
capacity.
2. Any current guidance material which is available for employees to make
informed decisions about their private social media use.
3. Any current policies, manuals, guidance material, etc, which APSC rely
upon to provide advice to APS agencies in the development and/or
implementation of social media policies within individual agencies.
 
Your request was received by the Australian Public Service Commission (the
Commission) via the [1][email address] mailbox on 15 April 2016.  Further
information on processing of your request is set out below.
 
Timeframe for receiving your decision
 
The statutory timeframe for processing a request is 30 days from the date
upon which your application was received by the Commission.  This means
the current due date for a decision on your request is 15 May 2016. As
this falls on a Sunday, the period ends on the next business day. You
should therefore expect to receive a decision from us by Monday 16 May
2016.
 
This timeframe may be extended where: 
•       charges are levied as prescribed by the Freedom of Information
(Fees and Charges) Regulations 1982 (the FOI Regulations)(see charges
below);
•       consultation with third parties is necessary (see consultation
with third parties below). 
 
Charges
 
Agencies may decide that an applicant is liable to pay a charge in respect
of a request for access to documents. These charges are set by the FOI
Regulations and are for search and retrieval of documents, decision making
and provision of access (for example, copying and postage).  If  the
Commission decides to charge you in respect of this FOI request, we will
send you a preliminary assessment of the charges as soon as possible
following retrieval of any documents that may be relevant to your
request. 
 
Consultation with third parties
 
The Commission may be required under the FOI Act to consult other parties
(third parties) where information relating to third parties arises in
documents sought by your request.  The FOI Act prescribes a further 30
days processing time for the Commission to undertake this consultation.
While we do not expect that any third parties will need to be consulted in
relation to your FOI request, you will be advised as soon as possible of
any requirement to consult with a third party.
