Specialists trained, each specialty, 2017, 18, 19 by states

John Smith made this Freedom of Information request to Department of Health

Waiting for an internal review by Department of Health of their handling of this request.

From: John Smith

Delivered

Dear Department of Health,

I seek the following information;

The number of medical specialists that have successfully completed their training courses; run by the specialist Australian medical colleges. I seek this information for the 17/18, 18/19, and 19/20 financial years.

I would like that information provided on a state-by-state basis; as in I would like to know the amount of specialists being trained in each state for each speciality.

For example, the dataset would tell me how many Dermatologists have completed their training in WA, SA (and all the other states), for each of those three years. (In addition to all of the other medical specialties)

I am making this as an FOI request as the publicly provided tool to access this data, hosted by your department, appears to be unusable for the purpose of obtaining the data that I am seeking.

Yours faithfully,

John Smith

Dear Mr Smith

I am writing to notify you that the Department of Health (department) has
received your request for access to documents under the Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) as follows:

“I request a document that contains the total number of labour hire staff
procured throughout your department.

I also request a document that contains the total number of labour hire
staff procured throughout the APS, that are fulfilling functionally
equivalent roles to actual APS employees throughout your department.

Additionally, I seek a document that contains the amount spent on labour
hire staff procured throughout your department, for the 19/20 financial
year.

Finally, I seek a document that contains the amount spent on labour hire
staff procured throughout your department, for the 19/20 financial year;
that are fulfilling functionally equivalent roles to actual APS employees
in your department.

If any of the above documents do not exist please advise.”

Request for extension of time

The department is actively processing your request and is aiming to
finalise it as quickly as possible. However, the department is currently
experiencing an increased workload to manage and respond to the
coronavirus pandemic, with a large amount of resources being diverted to
do so. The content of your request means that any documents that exist
would sit with the line area who has responsibility for the department’s
continued response to the coronavirus.

On this basis, the department is seeking an extension of 30 calendar days,
with a decision to be provided to you no later than COB 21 September
2020.

Next Steps

Could you please advise the department by COB 24 July 2020 if you agree
to the request for extension of time?

In addition, unless you advise otherwise, duplicate documents and
Commonwealth employee names and contact details below Senior Executive
Service level and mobile telephone numbers of all staff will be excluded
from the scope of your request under s22(1)(a)(ii) of the FOI Act.

Kind regards

FOI Officer
