UTS Branding & Reputation Policy

We're waiting for MissAnonymous to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear University of Technology Sydney,

Background -

UTS branding and reputation is a valuable public asset.

On the wrong hands it could be taken advantage of and provide benefit to those who potentially mis-use it.

This may be where affiliate, staff or a student may gain untangible benefit over others by using the branding or reputation in various situations - whether implicitly or explicitly - that may include sowing confusion whether it is official or personal business when using the brand.

Question -

Could we please point to any of the existing guidelines or policies that sets out the management or using the UTS branding and reputation when UTS or it's students, staff or affliates etc. when advertised to or otherwise dealing with the members of public ?

For example -

- Using & Providing UTS branded e-mail - e.g. provided / advertised to member of public
- Profile pages - e.g. advertising the UTS endorsement or affiliation - past or present
- External websites - e.g. UTS branded e-mail addresses are advertised outside UTS
- Social media - e.g. x/twitter, Mastodon, Reddit, Truth Social, Facebook, Instagram, ..
- letterhead and / or envelope - e.g. denoting the purpose of the communication
- Funding applications - e.g. applying private funding for a project etc.
- Raffle, Competition etc. - e.g. when entering a competition etc.
- 2nd Hand / marketplaces - e.g. Gumtree, eBay, Classifieds
- Tribunal / Court proceedings - e.g. in order to give weight to statements / credibility
- MeetUps / Public forums - e.g. various societies accessible to members of public
- Selling services or products - e.g. selling book, art, consulting and such
- Marketing themselves - e.g. personal work to be curated, put on display or published
- Other Self-promotion / private interests / solicitation

Yours faithfully,
Miss Anonymous
