Dear T S,

I refer to your application in which you seek access to documents under
the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act)(ABS reference FOI 202122/45)
regarding:

1. Sample copy of 2021 census paper form (as sent by post to members of
public) including all instructions how to fill out the questionnaire.
2. Sample copy of 2016 census paper form (as sent by post to members of
public) including all instructions how to fill out the questionnaire.

Your request was received by the ABS on 09/06/2022 and the 30 day
statutory period for processing your request commenced from the day after
that date.

Please note, a sample copy of the 2016 Census Paper form is available on
the ABS website. Please see: [1]2016 Census Sample Household Form.pdf
(abs.gov.au). Can you please confirm if this satisfies point 2 of your
request?

It is ABS policy to impose charges consistent with section 29 of the
FOI Act.  We we will inform you of our decision in this respect once we
have conducted a search for documents.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns
regarding this email.

Dear Mark Haines,
Thank you for your reply. Please release the 2016 census form under freedom of information even though it available on your website.

In relation to the charges, please waive the charges as it relates to 2021 census form which is a very easily accessible document for the ABS.
Yours sincerely,

T S

Hello T S,

We have some questions regarding the scope of your request.
1. The ABS produces the Census in various languages including braille. Does your request include all languages or only the English form?
2. The ABS has several forms within the Census. The household form is the main form used but there are also personal forms. Your wording implies a singular form, can you confirm which forms your request includes?

Since our last correspondence, we have found that the 2021 Census form is also available on the ABS' website. That can be found here: https://www.abs.gov.au/census/census-med...

Thank you,

Mark Haines
