Dear Mr Cordover

Please find attached the acknowledgement of receipt for your recent FOI
Request.

Exclusion of non-SES staff personal details and SES telephone contact
details

The Department’s policy is to exclude the personal details of officers not
in the Senior Executive Service (SES), as well as the mobile and work
telephone numbers of SES staff, contained in documents that fall within
scope of an FOI request. If you require names and contact details of
non-SES officers, or direct telephone numbers of SES staff, please inform
us so the decision maker may consider your request. Otherwise we will take
it that you agree to that information being excluded from the scope of
your request.

Yours sincerely

FOI Coordinator,

Dear Mr Cordover

Request for access to documents – Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI
Act)

I refer to your email dated 15 June 2015 in which you have sought access
to documents held by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection
(DIBP) under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act).

You have requested access to:

all documents produced or received by the Department between 1 April 2015
and 8 June 2015, excluding any enquiries from journalists after 2 June
2015, relating to the payment of people smugglers in order to "turn the
boats around”.

The subject matter of the documents requested by you is more closely
connected with the functions of the Australian Customs and Border
Protection Service (ACBPS) than the functions of the DIBP.  As such, your
request was transferred to ACBPS on 16 June 2015 under section 16 of the
FOI Act.

Your application was received on 15 June 2015, and the 30 day statutory
period for processing your request will commence from that date.

I hope to be able to advise you of our decision on your request in the
near future.

Where documents are released to you in response to your request, the
Australian Customs and Border Protection Service may be required to
publish these documents on its website within 10 working days in
accordance with section 11C of the FOI Act.  Publication will not be
required where the documents contain personal or business affairs
information.

Dear Mr Cordover

I refer to your request for access to documents under the Freedom of
Information Act on 15 June 2015.

As of 1 July 2015, the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service
consolidated with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (the
Department).

The current due date for your request is Wednesday 15 July 2015.  Due to
the number of requests currently being processed by our office, we will
not be able to finalise your request by the original due date.

The Department seeks your agreement (under s.15AA of the FOI Act) to
extend the timeframe for the processing of your request by 30 days.  This
would extend the due date for your request to Friday 14 August 2015.

It would assist the Department in managing its FOI caseload if you could
provide a response to this request by close of business, Friday 10 July
2015.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you wish to discuss.

Yours sincerely

Dear FOI Helpdesk,

Re: FA 15/07/00377 ; 2015/021463

I refer to your email of 7 July 2015 seeking an extension of time to deal with this request.

I do not consent to the requested extension of time by 30 days. I would however be happy to consent to an extension of time to 31 July 2015.

Please let me know if this is sufficient or if there is any particular reason a further extension of time is warranted.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Cordover
