Updating your details once a visa has been granted, including minor

The Department has an administrative process for minor corrections to date
of birth or name due to client error (such an a typographical error in an
online application) where the visa application has already been finalised.

You can update your details online if your application is available in
ImmiAccount. Go to the Department’s website [3]here.
Alternatively, you can complete a form 929, which can be found [4]here.
The completed form and attachments should be sent by email to
[5][email address]. This form will not be actioned by the FOI
Section.

Request for a copy of your Visa Refusal or Visa Grant letter

If you have lost or misplaced correspondence regarding your Visa Refusal
or Visa Grant, or you wish to confirm the authenticity of your Visa
Refusal or Visa Grant, you should contact the office where you lodged your
visa application.

Queries regarding your current Visa status

You can check your visa details and conditions on the Department’s Visa
Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) portal. If you do not have the
necessary reference numbers to access the VEVO portal, you should contact

If you are seeking a refund of fees associated with your Visa, you should

On 22 August 2019, the Department notified you of its intention to refuse
your request on the basis that either the work involved in processing your
request in its current form would substantially and unreasonably divert
the resources of Department from its other operations due to its broad
nature, size and complexity, or that the request does not satisfy the
requirement in section 15(2)(b) of the FOI Act, which requires you to
provide such information concerning the document you are seeking access
to, to enable the Department to be able to identify it.

In particular, the Department notified you that, within 14 days of receipt
of that letter, you must advise Department that:

· you wish to make a revised request; or

· indicate that you do not wish to revise your request; or

· withdraw your request.

The 14 day period has now expired. As such, in accordance with section

Dear Mr Green,

I am writing in reference to your two Freedom of Information (FOI)
Internal Review requests (Ref FA19/03/01208-R1 and FA19/03/01215-R1) which
I am currently assessing.

You requested that the Department review the deletion of information
irrelevant to your requests under section 22(1)(a)(ii) of the FOI Act .

Section 22(1)(a)(ii) of the Freedom of Information Act (FOI Act) permits
an agency to prepare an edited copy of a document, deleting information
that would reasonably be regarded as irrelevant to the request.

The scope of the above FOI requests was as follows:

The scope of these two requests was quite specific, which resulted in some
text being deleted under section 22(1)(a)(ii) as irrelevant to the topic
of your request.

I note that on 11 December 2019, you lodged a new FOI request (Reference
19/12/00646) which seeks access to the documents considered in
FA19/03/01208-R1 and FA19/03/01215-R1 specifically by name.

As you have not confined your request to a specific topic in
FA19/12/00646, the whole document, rather than the topical content, falls
within scope of your new request. As such, it is likely that significantly
less information will be assessed and deleted as being irrelevant to your
request.

Accordingly, I am writing to ask if you wish to withdraw internal reviews
FA19/03/01208-R1 and FA19/03/01215-R1, which are confined to the topical
content of your request, pending the outcome of FA19/12/00646.

I note that three documents which were captured by FA19/03/01208-R1 and
FA19/03/01215-R1 are not included in FA19/12/00646. These documents are:

Dear Mr Green,

I am writing in reference to your two Freedom of Information (FOI)
Internal Review requests (Ref FA19/03/01208-R1 and FA19/03/01215-R1).

On 5 February 2020, I wrote to you asking if you wanted to withdraw these
internal review requests as you had lodged a third access request
(FA19/12/00646) seeking access to the same information.

On 6 February 2020, you advised that you wished to suspend your internal
review until such time as FA19/12/006646 was determined.

I note that FA19/12/006646 was finalised on 4 June 2020, granting you
greater release.

I am therefore writing to you to ask if you wish to withdraw internal
review cases FA19/03/01208-R1 and FA19/03/01215-R1, which have effectively
been superseded by the decision on FA19/12/006646.

Please note that if you withdraw internal review cases FA19/03/01208-R1
and FA19/03/01215-R1, you are still open to request an internal review of
FA19/12/006646 within 30 days of the decision date.

If you could please advise your decision by return email, I would be most
appreciative.
