Number of citizenship applicants in Sydney metro councils who are approved and the number who have completed the citizenship ceremony

Jamun Lab made this Freedom of Information request to Department of Home Affairs

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Department of Home Affairs should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Department of Home Affairs,

I would like to know the number of citizenship applicants residing in Sydney metro councils (listed below), who are approved and the number who have completed the citizenship ceremony.

Please group the numbers by council and month & year of approval (starting from applicants with approval date on or after 01-June-2020 till present date)

Kindly format the information with the columns as given below:

"Date (Year & Month) of approval" | "Council Name" | "Total number of approved applicants in this month & year" | "Total number of applicants who have completed ceremony" ( for this fourth column, in each row, count only applicants who have completed ceremony (as of present date) that were approved in the month & year specified in the first column of this row)

To clarify further on the metrics requested above, note that the fourth column - "Total number of applicants who have completed ceremony" is NOT the number of applicants who completed the ceremony in that month & year in the same row under the first column "Date (Year & Month) of approval".

Rather, it is the number of applicants who have already completed ceremony as at the date this information is extracted, who were approved in that month & year, under the first column "Date (Year & Month) of approval" on the same row.

Example:

If, for example, in Dec-2020 at Bayside council, 100 applicants were approved. Further if 80 of these 100 applicants, that were approved in Dec-2020 residing in Bayside council, have completed ceremony as at the date when information is extracted (for example, 08 March 2021 ) for this request,

then the information for this request, for the row for Dec-2020 for Bayside council, would be as below:

"Date (Year & Month) of approval" | "Council Name" | "Total number of approved applicants in this month & year" | "Total number of applicants who have completed ceremony"

Dec-2020 | Bayside council | 100 | 80

The below are councils for which this information is requested (if you require a 30 day extension after initial 30 days of request, I am ok with it)

City of Penrith, NSW

City of Willoughby, NSW

Dear FOI,

For the below quote Request,

FOI Request: FA 21/03/00834

File Number: OBJ2021/9119

As I understand based on the document provided by you in response, this document does not exist with the department. Due to this, I would like to request you to provide information/report such as the one provided for another FOI Request: FA 20/02/01122 (this is very similar to the FOI request I have raised (FA 21/03/00834) with exception of a 2 columns)

This previous FOI number that I have provided: FA 20/02/01122 has only 2 columns 1. Council name and 2. Number of approved applicants waiting for the Citizenship ceremony as the two columns.

Could you please provide the same information, but for the councils that are listed in the FOI request that I have raised (FA 21/03/00834) for applicants approved upto date 31/01/2021. IF it is not possible to add the filter for "applicants approved upto date 31/01/2021" - then please provided only the 1. Council name and 2. Number of approved applicants waiting for the Citizenship ceremony as the two columns.

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Thank you
Jamun Lab

Yours sincerely,

Jamun Lab

Dear Department of Home Affairs,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department of Home Affairs's handling of my FOI request 'Number of citizenship applicants in Sydney metro councils who are approved and the number who have completed the citizenship ceremony'.

For the below quote Request,

FOI Request: FA 21/03/00834

File Number: OBJ2021/9119

As I understand based on the document provided by you in response, this document does not exist with the department. Number of approved applicants waiting for the Citizenship ceremony as the two columns.

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Further, Please note that I had raised 2 FOI requests on March 10 2021. Then, the FOI department merged the two into a single one (combining the text of the 2 FOIs). The 2nd one infact had requested
the same information as has been previously provided in the FOI request FA 20/02/01122. However, due to the merging that one has not been used for this request. Therefore, as requested above, please provide the information requested.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/n...
