I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

I request access to briefing papers prepared for OAIC Commissioners and officials for their appearance at the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee, Supplementary Budget Estimates hearing held on 1 December 2025, including briefing papers relating to privacy complaints, privacy investigations, and the OAIC’s privacy regulatory functions.

This includes the index or table of contents for the briefing pack and any associated annexes to the briefing papers.

This request excludes drafts.

If the scope of this request requires clarification or refinement, I would be happy to discuss this.

Timeframes for dealing with your request

Your FOI request was received by the OAIC on 21 January 2026 and the
30-day statutory time period for processing your request commenced the
next day. Therefore, the timeframe will expire on 20 February 2026.

 

The processing time may also be extended if we need to consult with third
parties and we will advise you if this happens.  

 

In order to process your request more quickly, we will remove from any
document bundle we provide, duplicate material, unless context requires
otherwise.

To further assist a faster decision, can you please advise whether we can
remove as irrelevant OAIC staff names below SES level and direct internal
contact details for all OAIC staff members.  The OAIC does not remove
roles or the position titles of staff.
