Recieved Documents From 'White Australia' Party

Currently waiting for a response from Australian Electoral Commission, they should respond promptly and normally no later than (details).

Glenn Hamiltonshire

Dear Australian Electoral Commission,

This is a Freedom of Information Request for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

I note various article written during late 2025, such as this article published on the ABC by Isobel Roe and Sarah Gerathy on 12 November 2025 titled ''No scope' to block neo-Nazis from registering as federal political party says Australian Electoral Commission' https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-11-12/n...

I request access to all documents and records of correspondents between the AEC and members of the (now supposedly defunct) White Australia Party former founders.

Please exclude duplicates and documents already publicly released, including media releases, reports, articles and statements to the media.
Please limit emails to the final message in the chain as long as previous messages are captured.

I agree to having the names and direct contact details of non-senior staff removed, however I request that redactions do not include non-personally identifying information. For example, please leave the domain and job titles when redacting email addresses or signature blocks on emails.

I preemptively agree to requests for third party consultation if necessary, but would prefer that my information about my identity is not shared with those consulted.’

Yours faithfully,

Glenn Hamiltonshire

Dear Glenn,

Acknowledgement of your Freedom of Information Request

I refer to your request for access to documents under the Freedom of
Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) made in the following terms:

‘all documents and records of correspondents between the AEC and members
of the (now supposedly defunct) White Australia Party former founders’

I understand your request for documents to exclude:

• duplicate, draft versions and publicly available documents
• duplicates of email chains where the final emails capture previous
correspondence
• names and contact details of Australian Electoral Commission (AEC)
staff (noting this does not include email domains and job titles of
staff)

Timeframe to process your request

Your request was received by the AEC on 22 January 2026, and the 30-day
statutory timeframe for processing your request commenced from the day
after that date.  You should expect to receive a decision from us by 23
February 2026.  The period of 30 days may be extended if we need to
consult third parties or for other reasons.  We will advise you if this
timeframe is extended.

Charges

We will advise you if any charge is payable to process your request and
the amount of any charge as soon as practicable.  No charge is payable for
providing a person with their own personal information.

Your address

The FOI Act requires that you provide us with an address to which we can
send notices.  You have advised that your email address is
[1][FOI #14215 email].  We will send all
notices and correspondence to this address.  Please advise us as soon as
possible if you wish for notices and correspondence to be sent to a
different address.  If you do not advise us of changes to your address,
notices and correspondence will continue to be sent to the address

Administrative release of documents

The AEC has administrative access arrangements for the release of certain
documents without the need for a formal freedom of information request.
Where appropriate we may offer you documents via the administrative access
scheme in lieu of processing under the FOI Act.  Information relating to
third parties cannot be released via administrative access.  You will be
notified when documents are released to you on an administrative access
basis.

Disclosure log

Documents released under the FOI Act may be published in a disclosure log
on the AEC's website.  Section 11C of the FOI Act requires this
publication, however it is subject to certain exceptions, including where
publication of personal, business, professional or commercial information
would be unreasonable.

you would like us to call you at a time that is convenient to you.

Yours sincerely,
