Register of Gifts to the Senate and the Parliament
Dear Department of the Senate,
For the attention of the Registrar of Senators’ Interests:
Can you please send me a copy of the latest public Register of Gifts to the Senate and the Parliament, as mentioned in the Standing Orders and other orders of the Senate: http://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/S...
Yours faithfully,
Henare Degan
Dear Henare,
Thank you for your e-mail.
As you may be aware, the Department of the Senate is not subject to the
Freedom of Information Act 1982, but the Department seeks, where possible,
to observe the spirit of the Act in respect of documents of an
administrative nature. Our Annual Report confirms this approach, and it
may be obtained here:
http://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/P....
The Register of Gifts to the Senate and the Parliament is maintained in
accordance with the resolution of the Senate of 26 August 1997, and
procedural rules agreed to by the Committee of Senators' Interests from
time to time. The conditions of access to the Register agreed to by the
Committee provide that a person may access the Register at Parliament
House, Canberra at stated times, and the rules also allow the Registrar to
provide copies of the Register. This means that the Register is available
to the public.
Please find attached a copy of current Register.
Yours sincerely,
Bronwyn Notzon
