Software of the Non Employment Income Data Matching (NEIDM) project

Luke Bacon made this Freedom of Information request to Services Australia

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Department of Human Services,

The Department runs a "data matching" process called the Non Employment Income Data Matching (NEIDM) project.

Could you please send through:

1. the latest document that lists the software used to run this project;
2. the latest document that identifies the group(s) responsible for managing this project, maintaining the software that runs it, and ongoing development of that software; and,
3. the latest version of the source code for the software that performs the data matching.

If you need any clarification to identify what the source code, I'm happy to help.

This is a formal Freedom of Information request under the Act.

Yours faithfully,

Luke Bacon

Dear Mr Bacon,

Thank you for contacting the department about your FOI request. I
understand you would like some information about the documents upon which
a charge has been based. The department located a document known as:
“Program Protocol Non-Employment Income Data Matching – NEIDM”

Please note that the processing of your request is suspended pending your
advice to the department as indicated in the preliminary charge notice
issued on 22 February 2017.

Hi, thanks for that.

I was calling to see if I could find out what search terms and process you used in looking for the documents, and also if you could send through a schedule of documents.

Could you please confirm that the document you've found contains all the information set out in this request:

> 1. the latest document that lists the software used to run this project;
> 2. the latest document that identifies the group(s) responsible for managing this project, maintaining the software that runs it, and ongoing development of that software; and,
> 3. the latest version of the source code for the software that performs the data matching.

Suspension of the request is all good. I'm going to be away till mid march, and I'll pick this back up then.

Thanks very much for your help, I had a nice chat to your colleague in Canberra on Friday :)

All the best,

Luke

Luke Bacon

Dear Mr Bacon,

Thank you for your correspondence to the department. In response, the
department advises that it was only able to locate one document, the
details of which have already been provided to you. The document only
responds to portions of your request and does not contain all the
information requested.

Thanks, that's interesting to hear.

I'd like to pay the charges. Can I do so by credit card over the phone?

FOI.LEGAL.TEAM,

Dear Mr Bacon,

Thank you for your email.

Payment of charges must be made either by cheque or money order as detailed in our letter of 22 February 2017. We confirm that there is not currently an alternative method of payment.

Once you have posted your cheque or money order, please advise us of your payment by emailing [email address].

Hi there friends,

Your money order is in the mail. Please let me know when it has been received.

I'd just like to note the absurdity of the Department requiring money orders over EFT. When you receive the money order, someone at the Department will have to take it to a bank and provide account details to receive the money. If you'd just provide requesters the account details then you could save time and resources doing this.

Also, a money order costs $8. That's more than 50% of the actual costs I'm paying. It seems that we could all save money and time if the Department would accept EFT like hundreds of other government agencies and local councils.

Yours sincerely,

Luke Bacon

Hi there,

Just following up to ask if my money order been received and cashed yet?

Yours sincerely,

Luke Bacon

FOI.LEGAL.TEAM,

Dear Mr Bacon

We have been notified that the money order is in transit from our Finance and Third Party Payments Team to the FOI Team.

Kind regards
