Tree data for Alice Springs

Edan Baxter made this Freedom of Information request to Alice Springs Town Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Alice Springs Town Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Alice Springs Town Council,

I would like the most up to spreadsheet/database file that contains data about the location, type, etc. of all trees in the Alice Springs area, including information relating to their designation as sacred. I'm looking for the equivalent data of what you can see for LGAs in Australia in OpenTrees.org http://www.opentrees.org/#L aunceston-243

As you can see, City of Sydney Coucnil in NSW have released similar data in response to a request. https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/t...

If possible could you just provide a link to the data if it's public, or treat this as an informal/administrative request. If that's not possible, please treat this as a formal request under The Act.

Best wishes,

Edan Baxter

Chris Turner, Alice Springs Town Council

Thank you for your enquiry below.

I have to advise that this Council has no database for the information to which you refer.

The Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority may be able to provide assistance.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Is it possible to obtain a register/tree listing document or similar - even if there is limited meta data (e.g. sacred status etc is unknown)?

Essentially am just interested to know if council maintains any Alice Springs tree listings or records at all.

Yours sincerely,

Edan Baxter

Chris Turner, Alice Springs Town Council

Eden.

This Council is not in possession of any relevant information including tree listings and records.
