Incoming Government Briefs
Dear Reserve Bank of Australia,
Consistent with the Freedom of Information Act 1982, I request the incoming government briefs prepared by the Reserve Bank for the Treasurer after the May 2025 federal election.
I am not seeking drafts of the above documents.
Yours faithfully,
John V.
Dear Reserve Bank of Australia,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Reserve Bank of Australia's handling of my FOI request 'Incoming Government Briefs'.
No response, or even an acknowledgment, has been provided despite significant time having passed. The RBA has not responded to my FOI request re Incoming Government Briefs, as normally required by law.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.righttoknow.org.au/request/i...
Yours faithfully,
John V.
Dear John V,
I refer to your email below regarding a purported FOI request sent to the Reserve Bank of Australia on 25 May 2025 (following receipt of your email I have checked details on the Right to Know website).
I advise that we never received your original request on 25 May (despite the RTK website noting it as 'delivered'). We have experienced sporadic instances in recent times where emails from that website do not get delivered to us. We have investigated this at our end and can find no reason why this randomly occurs (for instance why that email did not reach us but the one you sent yesterday did).
I can assure you that had we received your request at the time you sent it we would have been answered it very quickly. There are no documents relevant to your request in our records as the Reserve Bank does not prepare incoming government briefs.
The Commonwealth Treasury does prepare them and in the normal course, (consistent with s16 transfer of requests), knowing they are the responsible agency, we would have looked to transfer the request to them. Given the processing time for your request has long since expired that is not feasible now and in any case we are aware that Treasury has released documents in relation to a request they received.
RTK does not permit us to include a link to that release by Treasury, but if you search the web for 'Treasury incoming government briefs' you will find the disclosure log entry from 11 June 2025.
Yours sincerely
Phil Lomas | Manager, FOI
