Private use of social media advice provided to employees

James Smith made this Right to Information request to Tasmanian Department of Treasury and Finance as part of a batch sent to 204 authorities

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Tasmanian Department of Treasury and Finance should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Tasmanian Department of Treasury and Finance,

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

I request documents related to the ten most recent instances where an employee has sought information, advice, guidance, or opinion on their social media use in a private capacity.

I limit the scope of documents to:
- the original request from the employee
- the agency/department's response
- any follow-up questions and response
- only those sent to a relevant HR / conduct / social media (or similar) team (rather than managers across all areas of the organisation)
- where the original request was created in the last 2 years

Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully,

James Smith

Secretariat (Treasury), Tasmanian Department of Treasury and Finance

Good morning Mr. Smith

Thank you for your email making an inquiry under Tasmania’s Right to
Information Act 2009. I advise that it is a requirement that applications
under this Act are accompanied by a non-refundable application fee of
$38.75.

You may apply to have the fee waived if:

·         you are in financial hardship - we take that to mean that you
are on income support payments (we would usually ask to see evidence that
you are in receipt of Centrelink or Veterans Affairs payments);

·         you are a member of Parliament and the application is in
connection with your official duty; or

·         you are able to give us information which shows that the
information sought is intended to be used for a purpose that is of general
public interest or benefit.

You may find further information by following this link -

If you wish to proceed with your request, please re-submit it with your
application fee following instructions on the webpage.

Kind regards,
