Dear Mr Denny and Mr Prakash,

 

Thank you for your request of 15 November 2016 regarding unique student
identifier (USI) exemptions.

 

I have discussed your request with the USI area and they are happy to
provide you with the following information (outside of the FOI Act):

 

‘Exemptions from the Unique Student Identifier (USI) to individuals are
granted by the Student Identifiers Registrar a statutory office holder
whose functions are set out in the Student Identifiers Act 2014 and
subordinate legislation.  Individual exemption procedures are set out at
s.7(2)  of the Student Identifiers (Exemptions) Instrument 2014 (the text
of which can be found at
