Use of Proton Pump Inhibitors and H2 Antagonists (compounded or not) in the paediatric population from 1995 to 2015

Joanne Matthews made this Freedom of Information request to Therapeutic Goods Administration

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Therapeutic Goods Administration did not have the information requested.

Joanne Matthews

Dear Therapeutic Goods Administration,

I would like to request the available information on the use of
Proton Pump Inhibitors and H2 Antagonists in the paediatric
population from 1996 to 2015 in whatever form it is available. We are interested in both compounded and non-compounded prescriptions.

We would like to know the age of recipients, annual totals etc.
Disaggregated where possible would provide us with the best ability to discern any changes in rate of diagnosis and prescription patterns over time. We are less concerned with the form of the information and more with understanding the pattern of diagnosis and treatment in the paediatric population.

We are trying to ascertain if there has been any discernible increase in the last 20 years and if children are being diagnosed with the condition earlier and remain with it for longer.

Our intention is to help aid our organisation's planning and to be able to inform health services of any trends that we find.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Joanne Matthews
National President
Reflux Infants Support Association

Yours faithfully,

Joanne Matthews
