FOI, National Library of Australia

Dear Mr Frankaland

Thank you for your request for documents below. In accordance with subsection 15(5)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, I confirm receipt of your request.

For reasons given previously in response to your FOI request of 12 December, namely that:

- The public service shutdown between 25 December 2021 and 3 January 2022;
- As you know, the National Library is a small agency with limited resources and I am the only FOI officer. In addition to the shutdown period, I am currently on leave and will not return to the office until 3 January 2022;

from today until 3 January, the Library does not have any other resources to respond to you. Please note that as I am on leave as of today, I will not be able to consider your current request of 17 December until I return to the office on 3 January 2022. For that reason, it is likely that we may need to request an extension for this request also.

Kind regards
Angie

FOI, National Library of Australia

Dear Mr Frankaland

As indicated previously, I request that you agree to an extension of 30 days for the decision making period, making the statutory due date of the decision in response to this request 15 February 2022.

As indicated previously, this is to take into account:
- The public service shutdown between 25 December 2021 and 3 January 2022.
- As you know, the National Library is a small agency with limited resources and I am the only FOI officer, and I was on leave between 20 December 2021 and 3 January 2022.

Taking the above into account in calculating the number of days until the usual statutory deadline of 16 January 2022, there would only be 13 days, which is just over a third of the usual statutory decision period of 30 days.

Please confirm by return email that you agree to the extension by COB this Friday, 14 January 2022.

Kind regards
Angie

Dear FOI,

As per message 14 Jan, extension has been agreed to. I am unsure as to why you need to repeat this confirmation from me.

Yours sincerely,
