Number of Centrelink clients who have threatened suicide from 2015 to 2016 by month
Dear Department of Human Services,
The new compliance system deployed by Centrelink is seemingly making numerous false claims of debt owed by some of Australia's most vulnerable people and families. The impact on these people can be enormous.
I hereby request, under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, the following information:
1) The number of Centrelink clients who have over the period 1st January, 2015, to 31st December, 2016 threatened to Centrelink that they will commit suicide; and
2) To ascertain whether there is any correlation between the introduction of the new compliance system and the frequency of these occurrences, I request that the data be broken down into calendar months.
Please note that this request is not seeking personal data of individual Centrelink clients.
I also make the application that all costs for the processing of this request be waived on the grounds that the release of this information is in the public interest.
